WHERE WE BOARD:
We load passengers on "A" dock which is in the middle of the Municipal wharf (the one you can drive out on) just past LouLou's diner (good eats, open at 7:00am) There is a loading zone at the top of the ramp for dropping off gear prior to parking. Please refrain from bringing aboard large gear bags and plastic bins/boxes that cannot be compressed. You will likely be asked to return them to your vehicle.
PARKING:
The City of Monterey now requires divers to park in the main lot off of the wharf. Parking meters accept quarters at $1.00 per hour (12 hour max) or you can purchase a parking ticket at the dispenser located next to the pay phones at the beginning of the wharf for $8.00/day. Expect to be out five to six hours.
WHAT TO BRING:
You will need to bring your own dive gear, tanks, weight and C-card. The boat has a limited amount of extra weight for making adjustments. We provide bottled water and snacks (chips & cookies) for between dives. It is highly recommended that you have a knife in case you get caught in the kelp, a compass to navigate out of the kelp and a light for looking in all the little holes and cracks. Those divers wearing wet suits may also want to bring a dive jacket to wear over you wetsuit between dives as the Monterey water is usually a balmy 52 F/11 C. We do have a hot water hose (seawater) on-board to warm up between dives. Also, a warm hat is recommended as there is usually a breeze in between dives and it is definitely windy while underway.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
We go where you want to dive! The joy of diving from a small boat is that we can cater to your diving desires more personally. You won't be running into another group of divers underwater every two minutes and you'll see more critters while your down there because of it. The captain can recommend a dive site based on your experience and what you might be looking to see, or you can tell the captain where you want to dive if you already know the sites or heard a recommendation from someone else. Provided the weather and seas are cooperating, we can take you anywhare from Monterey Bay to Yankee Point! And with a cruising speed of over twenty knots, get you there faster than any other charter boat in Monterey. If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend that you take an appropriate medication at least 1-2 hour before departure as we do experience a little more motion being a small boat

THE BOAT:
"Double Down" is a 26' runabout built in 2001 by Aluminum Chambered Boats of Bellingham,WA (www.acbboats.com) who builds the finest small boats in the world bar none. They are used by US Navy seals, US Coast Guard, Jean Michael Cousteau and countless other government agencies who demand the best your tax dollars can buy. Originally built as the support boat for a TV show called "Ship Shape" on the east coast, it found it's way back west where it was refitted as a "six pack" dive charter. The open back deck with high and low seats makes sure that every one has an easy time getting geared up and in the water. When it's time to come back on board, you'll find the easiest dive ladder in the world to come up, even with doubles. Pushed by twin 140HP four stroke motors with a cruising speed of 20-25 knots and a top speed of 40 knots, it's a quick trip to the dive sites of Carmel Bay and those further south.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
Customer cancellations can be rescheduled if notice is received five or more days prior to departure. Trip cancellations by the crew due to weather, mechanical failure or other circumstances will either be rescheduled or refunded. We reserve the right to cancel a trip if less than four divers are scheduled. Every effort will be made to contact the divers as soon as possible in the event of a crew cancellation.
